In 1902
Kralupy nad Vltavou was granted town status and
in 1913 - 60 it was the seat of the district
authority. The town was heavily damaged in an air
raid by the Allies on the local minerals oils
refinery on March 22nd 1945. In the 1960s a big
chemical plant producing plastics and caoutchouc,
which was later extended to include an oil
refinery, was built in Kralupy nad Vltavou. |
Hew housing estates
and various public serving facilities, such as an
open-air swimming pool, a winter stadium and sports
arena complete with a swimming poll, were built.

The appearance of the
town has changed for the better and new buildings
have been added over the past decade. These include
an elderly peoples home, a footbridge spanning the
Vltava River and several apartment houses.
